At the going down of the sun, and in the morning we will remember them. Names from the two WW1 war memorials of St Peter and St Thomas Bethnal Green. Remembered on the Centenary of the Armistice with a new public commemoration and in the booklet which traces many of their stories ‘Known Unto God’.

St Peter’s Bethnal Green has names on a WW1 memorial from St Peter’s church, St Peter’s Avenue and St Thomas’ church, Baroness Road. St Thomas was bombed in WW2 and dismantled shortly after. The war memorial was moved to the interior of St Peter’s.

A booklet listing all the names of the men who died with stories and historical details of many of them has been compiled by two historians. Click below to download it.

On the Centenary of Armistice we gathered with many neighbours to unveil a new Roll of Honour on our Hall
